Helsinki-Vantaa Airport welcomed more than 14.8 million visitors last year and serves as Finland’s premier international airport. It is actually located in Vantaa, which is a suburb of Helsinki as well as a town in its own right. Vantaa is located some 17 km to the north of Helsinki city center.

In the Arrivals hall 2A passengers will find a tourist information office with regional travel material being displayed in several languages. The tourist information office is open from Mondays to Sundays from 10.00 am to 06.00 pm.

Lined by some of Finland’s most imposing monuments – the Cathedral, the University of Helsinki, the National Library of Finland and the Governmental Palace, the Senate Square has a statue of Tsar Alexander II of Russia at its heart, reminding visitors of Finland’s turbulent past with its neighbouring countries.

Aleksanterinkatu is Helsinki’s equivalent of Singapore’s Orchard Road and Berlin’s Ku’damm. Here some of the finest shopping malls are located together with wonderful restaurants, bars, cafes and various other attractions. It’s just a short walk from Senate Square. At Christmas the street is lit up with fairy lights, sparkling in the snow and there are plenty of chances to spot the “real” Father Christmas in the crowds, too.
