How to get to Helsinki Airport by Train

Helsinki Central Railway Station is located at Kaivokatu 1 in the center of the city. Regional trains I and P travel between Central Railway Station and Helsinki Airport.

What ticket to buy

You can either buy a Day ticket for 8.00 euros or a single ticket for zones ABC, which costs 5.60 euros per person. A single AB ticket for two zones costs 2.80 euros, adding another zone costs 2.80 euros for each new zone.

Day tickets can be purchased for more days than just one. You can buy a Day ticket that's valid for up to 7 days, costing 32.00 euros. A Day ticket that covers two days costs 12.00 euros. Your ABC ticket is valid for 80 minutes. Tickets can be used on all modes of transport and be bought from bus drivers for example, or from ticket machines and R-kioski and similar sales points. If you buy a ticket from a bus driver, it costs 4.00 euros, far more expensive than from a ticket machine, sales point or buying via the HEC App online. You cannot buy tickets on trains, so your fare must be paid in advance of boarding.

Where you can buy tickets

The train station at Helsinki Airport is within a short walk of both terminals. HSL ticket machines are located at the entrance of the corridor that links Terminal 1 and 2, and in Baggage Claim Terminal 2 and at bus stops outside both terminals.

At Terminal 2 regional train tickets can also be purchased at the Alepa Grocery Store in Arrivals Hall 2B, at the R-kioski in Arrivals Hall 2A and at WH Smith in the Departure Hall. The tourist information stand at Terminal 2 in Arrivals Hall 2A also sells regional train tickets.

At Terminal 1 you can also buy tickets for trains to other Finnish cities: Pasila, Tikkurila, Myyrmäki and Vantaa for example are sold at WH Smith in the Departure Hall.

Regional Trains

Every ten minutes a regional train leaves Helsinki Airport's train station. Regional trains I, K, N, R and T all go to Vantaa and the Heureka Science Museum. When you get to Central Railway Station in Helsinki you can also take Bus 16, which leaves from platform 17 for Mustikkamaa, from where you only need to cross the bridge to get to Helsinki Zoo in Korkeavaari.

Regional trains run Monday to Saturday. Trains to/from Helsinki Airport via Huopalahti take just 32 minutes. I-Train operates between Helsinki-Tikkurila-Helsinki Airport-Myyrmäki-Helsinki. I-trains leave Helsinki Central Railway Station mainly from platforms 1 to 3.

P-train travels between Helsinki-Myyrmäki-Helsinki Airport-Tikkurila-Helsinki and leaves usually from platforms 16 to 18 at Central Railway Station.

Helsinki Metro
